Contract Planning – Local Public Agency Staffing

LAK Associates has delivered contract planning services to several Bay Area municipalities including, County of Napa, County of Mendocino, City of Vallejo, the Town of Fairfax, City of Mill Valley, City of San Rafael, Town of Corte Madera, and the City of Novato.  As contract staff, we routinely manage large or complex planning projects requiring comprehensive and professional services.  Regular responsibilities include managing day to day files, preparation of staff reports, and presentations at public hearings.  For larger, complex projects, we also manage the environmental review process including drafting Initial Studies and Environmental Impact Reports pursuant to the California Environmental Quality Act (CEQA). See our CEQA page for more information on our environmental review services

Regional Planning

A successful regional plan is the product of comprehensive evaluation of resources, recommendations for the management of those resources, and the ability to work in partnership with communities and clients throughout the process.

LAK Associates provides successful Regional planning services for parks, open space, watersheds and conservation efforts.  We also provide planing for large sites and subdivisions.

We maintain a healthy workload balance by coordinating and facilitating a range of projects with a variety of scale.

Local Hazard Mitigation Plan for Sonoma County 2004

In 2004 and 2005, LAK Associates, working for Natural Hazards Mitigation, developed a Local Hazard Mitigation Plan for Sonoma County. LAK Associates created the GIS mapping necessary to plot repetitive loss properties in the County as well as the various maps needed to complete the plan. LAK also facilitated the public involvement process for the County.

In Sacramento County, while working with Environmental Stewardship & Planning in 2001 and 2002, we developed and implemented a stakeholder involvement program to prepare an open space plan for 33,000 acres in the eastern portion of Sacramento County. Key issues included recognition of individual property rights, open space and habitat resource preservation, regional circulation and funding strategies.
